Al Gore and the E.P.A. want to do away with the Internal Combustion Engine. WHY? |

You can set up two engines side by side. Use gasoline for one and propane for the other. The propane one is the cleanest. AGAIN WHY? Simply because the propane is a vapor as soon as it is released. Gasoline has to be vaporized but neither today's carbs nor injectors does the job they should. Some carbs did over 90 years ago as did the so called "Magic" carbs that were not supposed to exist but did. |

I remember standing on the porch many years ago and the wind was blowing rain through the screen. I did't feel rain drops only was wet by a very fine mist..There was an updraft carb that broke up the drops of gas passing over a cone that was rough like course sand paper. There have been screen gaskets that were patented 70 years ago by racers. Some have been made and sold up until the E.P.A said they didn't reduce pollution enough and publications said they did't save gas. Don't try to tell that to the people I installed my own hand made units in 1974. I charged $10 - $15 and the results were more power , gas mileage increased 22%+ and when I bought a infared analyzer I found the pollution was reduced 97% or more the needle hardly left the peg. The E.P.A. said a factory made unit only reduced the pollution 84%. Maybe a million units ended up in land fill without a market. They sold for $20 to $30. The "RUBE GOLDBERG" junk they O.K.d like air pumps and cat-converts cost Hundreds of dollars and only started reducing pollution about 25%.---- I had one or two cars I worked on got more mileage when we added an air injector in the pvc line which leaned it some. Let me explain it this way. Drops of gas and a block of ice are alike in one way. Ice only melts on the surface. Gas does not burn only the vapor. Gas vaporizes like ice melts, only on the surface. When you engine is cold you "choke" it The big drops of gas vaporize slow and as the engine warms up the drops get broken smaller and provide more surface and as the vapor increases the choke changes to let in more air. So if you break up the gas more than usual you would either need more air or less gas. If and when the gas can be almost totaly a vapor you would have the making of a hundred plus miles per gallon with a full sized car. When I see the cars in Calif. being crushed because they were polluters and knowing they could have had a long life at a cost of less than $35 it is a crine. These cars will be wanted in a few years to restore but they are now scrap. The worst of this is it has been all because of greed. First the Oil Companies wanting more and more. When cars first began gas was a by-product. More care more demand for gas and oil. But, gas was under price control for many years and they had tried to get the price up and after many shortage scares it did't work. In 1939 they found a way to get more gas per barrel than ever before. That was in Michigan and we changed gas suppliers then and got gas from there at a lower price. When the war started they had a big sale for gas and oil. gas , rationing came about not because of a gas shortage but because we had to save our tires and that is why the speed limit was 35 mph.
After the war it still was hard to get tires for some time except seconds as the auto builders got first choice. As the years got on there were some smaller cars and better mileage even on the larger ones. The oil companies had to stop that and they stil wanted to get away from price controy. They had claimed shortage and went to the mid east countries and drilled for oil. They found so much oil they only turned in 1 of 10 wells. They used Arab oil because their old wells could not be sold for the newer prices. In 1973 they were talking of shortage again but where gas was 32 cents I got it for 19 cents in St Pete and Tampa. I am sure it didn' take much to get Opec to embargo gas to us. There were loaded tankers in the gulf. They could not deliver because the supply tanks in Tampa bay were full even tho they claimed we couldn't get gas because they were "empty". The oil companies got the price control busted and put Auto makers in a tight bind as big cars wern't selling and some almost went out of bussines. They don't dare do what they could because big oil could shut them down again.
Most of the power and mileage could be fixed Much of it being only changing the shape of manifolds. They sell bigger motors for more power yet race cars greatly increase power with free flowing headers. Stock manifolds chocks power and mileage. I will add pages to this as soon as I can with more detail--I predict oil co. will use y2k to raise prices again..
